John Cross, Senior Pastoral Assistant
 

John S. Cross serves as the Senior Pastoral Assistant for Metropolitan Interdenominational Church.  He is employed by Tennessee State University, his alma mater, where he serves as Director to the Department of Creative Services and is responsible for campus-wide photography, the TSU newsroom and other aspects of the University’s social media engagement.

Rev. John has been active with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and served as a big brother to an elementary student in Metro Nashville Public Schools. 

For two years he participated in the INSIDE/OUT Prison ministry and visited the local prison weekly to interact in workshops and other activities with inmates. He worked with the Room at the Inn ministry providing shelter for homeless men during winter months.
Currently he serves monthly as a volunteer Chaplain with the Metropolitan Police department providing death notifications and comfort and counseling to families and individuals in crisis situations.

Rev. John is also a graduate of American Baptist College and holds a Masters degree from Cumberland University in Public Service Management. He is a member of Delta Epsilon Chi honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Rev. John and his wife, Ruth, have four children and three grandchildren.
